There are different ways to go about framing basement walls. Each method does do the same work but in it's own unique way. Because of that, setting up the frames is going to have a different outcome. It also makes you think about your taste in decorating, so you may want to give it some thought.
The ways for framing basement walls are as follows:
- Perimeter Wall Framing – this method is to make your basement warm, especially since a basement is underground. Some 2”x4” studs are placed on the perimeters, and that allows for installation of insulation materials to be easier.
- Internal Wall Framing – this method is to slightly raise the inner wall. A lot of factors can make it difficult (the house being built on clay soil, and the pipes and wires within the walls), but there are variations for it.
- Stick Build Framing – this is the common kind of framing done in most houses, but is difficult to understand if you're not an architect.
Framing basement walls is a difficult job to do, but one that allows you to customize your home in your own way.
